Showroom pink

 

Showroom Pink is an apparel wholesale showroom located right across from the Chicago Merchandise Mart in the Kinzie Street Showrooms. They currently house 11 high-end contemporary women's lines including six lines from the celebrity worn brand, Johnny Was. 

 

I completed a 6-month internship with this showroom. I assisted with preparations for trunk shows, on-the-road selling, and Chicago market. Some of my daily tasks were taking inventory of samples that ship to and from manufacturers, steaming garments, and helping with filing and faxing paperwork. I was also there to directly communicate and sell to buyers during two Chicago market weekends. 

 

The internship really gave me a first look at how everything was run behind the scenes on a wholesale level. I learned how to read line sheets, organize inventory, communicate with buyers, and deal with price markups.
